I heard a quote over the weekend that I found impactful and wanted to share: “Treat a man AS HE IS, and he will REMAIN as he is. Treat a man as he COULD BE or SHOULD BE and he will become who he COULD BE or SHOULD BE.” – Joann Wolfgang von Goethe
As school is back in full force, I want to encourage our teachers and coaches that they are the heartbeat of our future. I believe nearly every person can name one teacher/coach who impacted their childhood positively.
I transferred to a new school in the 5th grade. It was a rough start and one of my earliest memories as a child was the way one teacher impacted my life. Mrs. Bobbie Vaughn nominated me for something and wrote the kindest one-page letter. If I had a hard day, I would read her kind words, and I believed them. Mrs. Vaughn believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself, and her encouragement and support helped me to reach my full potential. She continues to work hard to serve children in our community, and now my daughter is positively impacted by her influence! Thank you Mrs. Vaughn!
Mark Batterson says “Everybody needs somebody who believes in them more than they believe in themselves.” I hope all of our area coaches and teachers know that their words are powerful and we are thankful for YOU! You guys are the true super heroes to our youth.
