I pen this letter with a heart overflowing with gratitude and a spirit soaring with hope. During the recent runoff election, I challenged you to join me in making history, and you responded with a resounding affirmation that has left me deeply moved.
When voices whispered doubts, suggesting that I might not even garner half the votes I received in the initial election, your unwavering faith and determination is very much appreciated. Ward 2, you not only came back out but exceeded all expectations, granting me 13 more votes than before, even amidst yesterday’s downpour. Your dedication is a testament to the power of community and the belief in a shared vision.
I know my Grandma Sara is looking down, her smile radiating with pride and satisfaction. A comment I encountered earlier perfectly encapsulates the significance of this moment: “This is a testament to all her sacrifices and dedication to voter empowerment and progress for her community!” Your support honors her legacy, and I am profoundly humbled to carry forward her mission.
Ward 2, my love for you knows no bounds. Now, let us unite and work together, “brick by brick,” to construct a brighter, more prosperous future for our beloved Ward 2. With your continued support and collaboration, we can achieve remarkable progress and create a community that we can all be proud to call home.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Roderick D. Smith
City Councilman Elect Ward 2
