Finally, I have a few personal reliefs. After 50 years of my academic career, I retired as Professor Emeritus from MUW. I can’t expect anything better than that.
For the last two weeks, there has been a war between India and Pakistan. On the 10th there was a ceasefire initiated by Trump. While our country is in a mess right now, how did our President make a successful deal in this conflict? I am always against war and war hasn’t been a solution proven since World Wars.
However, this war started because of a genuine reason. Dozens of innocent Indian travelers in Indian land were killed by a group of terrorists originating from Pakistan. What a tragedy. The terrorists asked whether they were Hindus before killing them! That’s what Pakistan did in 1971 in my homeland, Bangladesh. So, India demolished those terrorists by surgical strikes.
The greatest philanthropist of our time, Bill Gates, announced he will give away “virtually all his wealth” through Gates foundation in the next 20 years. I pray and wish he will live until that time.
A Tufts University doctoral student, Rumeysa Ozturk was released from the detention center, six weeks after she was taken into custody. The only reason is because she protested the war in Gaza. There are thousands of people who protested and are still protesting the killing of innocent children, women and men in Gaza. At least, she is out of custody and that’s a relief.
