Since January 1, 24 police officers have been shot and four killed as of January 29. This is a sad commentary of the times we live in. No respect for law enforcement or any other one in authority. Where does the problem lie? In my opinion it is the liberal politicians, judges and DA’s. There is the “Soros” effect, as the monies are reported to flow out of his hand to others that have an effect on our judicial system.
Even locally I’ve heard 50 percent of drug charges are dismissed. Even with the number of arrests in the Columbus shootings, that is the last we hear about it. Do you hear about bound over to the grand jury? We have a city council person discharging a firearm charged with a misdemeanor. It seems the local system (Police Chief, city prosecutor) are moving the goal post as to what is a felony. In “The Friendly City,” we’ve had a shooting at a car wash that is located in an area known for drive-by shootings. Where were the patrols? A repo driver was shot from a crowd while trying to preform his job. Then there are daylight shootings at the East Columbus McDonald’s and Marvin’s. This will continue until the judicial system puts some teeth in the laws. We law-abiding citizens are the ones being punished. It is time for the lawlessness to stop. It is time for prosecutors and DAs to man up and do their job. Chief Shelton said when questioned about the jail not being at full capacity, “We arrest them, it’s the DA that charges them.” Same goes for the county. I would not be a law man. I pray for their safety everyday. Shame on the ones in our judicial system that are soft on crime, because it’s the honest law-abiding citizen that is harmed.
I could comment on our local politics but I’ll save that for another day. I hope more than two council people show up for the next workshop. That’s a teaser.
God bless Columbus and America!
