William Huffman

COLUMBUS — William W. Huffman, Sr., 66, died July 28, 2010, at the Montfort-Jones Hospital in Kosciusko. Services are Saturday at 3 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Huffman was born Oct. 22, 1943, in Chickasaw County to the late Maudie Belle Smitherman and Walter Frazier Huffman. He was a history teacher at New Hope Middle School and was a retired U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of Highway 69 Church of Christ in Columbus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Denise Huffman. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Garrett Huffman, of Columbus; daughters, Pamela Lynn Richter, of Oxford, Ala., Terri Alane Dobbs, of Houston, Jennifer Carol Williamson, of Cumberland, and Christine Michelle Douglas, of Columbus; sons, William Huffman Jr., of Anniston, Ala., Jason Andrew Huffman of Columbus, and Billy Gallmeyer and John Gallmeyer, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother, Earl Huffman, of West Point.
