Preston Belle

COLUMBUS — Rev. Preston Charles Belle, 92, died March 30, 2019, at Windsor Place Nursing Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peters U.M. Church in Aberdeen. Burial will follow at Odd Fellow Cemetery. Visitation is from noon-6 p.m. Friday at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Rev. Belle was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Columbus, to the late Alvin and Amanda Reed. He attended Aberdeen schools and was a graduate of Rust College in Holly Springs and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He also attended Garrett Theology Seminary in Evanstan. He was formerly employed as an educator with Aberdeen School System and as a principal with Shivers High School and Shivers Junior High School. He served as Pastor of several area churches and as Chairman of the Aberdeen Housing Authority. He also served on the Foster Care Review Bord for the Monroe Welfare Department, the Parks and Recreational Board, the Aberdeen Democratic Election Committee, the South Monroe Chamber of Commerce, the Three River Planning Committee and as a probation officer for young adults. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, India Walker Belle; and brothers, Williams Belle and Calvin Belle. He is survived by his daughter, Jessyka Belle; sister, Alice Ford; brother, Alvin Belle Jr.; and two grandchildren.
