COLUMBUS — Lillie Ruth Skinner, 82, died April 1, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. A private family only service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Paul M.B. Church, with the Rev. Willie Mays officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A private visitation is from 2-5 p.m. today, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Skinner was born Feb. 11, 1938, in Macon, to the late Jake Thompson and Iona Hubbard. She was previously employed with Johnston Tombigbee Furniture Company and was a member of Second James Creek M.B. Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Curtis Skinner, J.C. Skinner and Henry Skinner; and siblings, Jake McDavid and Willie Bell Pryor. She is survived by her children, Rosie Brown, Roderick Skinner both of Columbus, Thomas Skinner Jr. of Starkville, Princess Tyson of Long Beach, California, Michael Skinner of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Jeffery Skinner of Saltillo; siblings, Edmond McDavid Sr. of St. Lois, Missouri, L.V. McDavid of Freeport, New York, Nallie Hopkins of Columbus, Louise McQueen of Roosevelt, New York and Carolyn O’Neal of Chicago, Illinois; 23 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
