KANKAKEE, Ill. — Larry Walters, 48, died June 3, 2012. Services were June 9 at Morning Star MB Church in Kankakee. Burial followed in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory. Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Walters was born Sept. 3, 1963, in the Ethelsville, Ala., to the late Tennyson and Florine Walters Neal. He was a 1980 graduate of Pickens County High School in Reform, Ala. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a police officer for the Kankakee Police Department for 14 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Walters. Survivors include his wife, Dr. Genevra Walters of Kankakee; children, Larry Walters, Jr., Kynyahta Walters, Laronne Walters, Larenz Walters, Elias Clasberry and Shaina Clasberry; sisters, Linda Tellis Patty Thomas, both of Ethelsville, Kathery Johnson of Columbus and Maxine Hill of Reform; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were David Sanders, Dennis Sanders, Christopher Sanders, Steve Sanders, Wallace Norris and Rickey Foster.
