Grady Partain

Grady Ray Partain, 86 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at his residence. Visitation will be Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 12:30 – 2:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Bro. Sammy Crawford, Bro. Tommy Gillon and Bro. Breck Ladd officiating. Interment with Masonic Graveside rites will be in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Partain was born October 25, 1927 in Columbus, MS to the late S. Burtis and Wilma E. Hathaway Partain. He was an Army veteran having served in WWII and receiving a Victory Medal. Mr. Partain married Annette Clarkson in Aberdeen, MS January 6, 1952. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and worked for Occidental Petroleum & Akzonobel for twenty-eight years. Grady was very active in the Masonic Lodge, and was a Past Master of Columbus Lodge #5. He was a past presiding officer of two Grand York Rite bodies, and an honorary of the third in Mississippi, as well as a member of many appendant Masonic bodies. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Levertice Partain. Mr. Partain is survived by his wife-Annette Clarkson Partain, Columbus, MS; daughters-Donna (Reed) Cooper, Columbus, MS and Libby (Jackie) Burks, Northport, AL; grandchildren-Matthew (Lindsey) Burks, Caroline Burks and Jared Cooper; great-grandchild-Leighton Burks; step granddaughters-Tracee Cooper (Tom) Pauly, Melissa Cooper and Christee Cooper Holbrook; step great-grands-Jake Pauly, Tyler Pauly, Anna-Claire Cooper, Madison, Megan and Morgan Holbrook. Pallbearers will be Pat Adair, Scott Adair, James Oliver, Phil Pratt, Buddy Shelton, Will Dupler, Murff Davis and Buck Hildreth. Honorary pallbearers will be Roland Hill, Fayette Burns, Bill Caldwell, Joe Fant, Mike Whitten, Henry Brownlee, Will Hartle, John Mason, Ray Adair, Charlie Upton, James Hargett Sunday School Class, Retirees of Eka Nobel and Ken Dyer.
