Chester Turner

Chester Turner, 77, died Aug. 17, 2014, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller’s Chapel MB Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Houston officiating. Burial will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation is today from noon-6 p.m. at Carter’s of Macon. Mr. Turner was born in Noxubee County on June 12, 1937, to the late Fred Turner Sr. and Louis Moore Turner. He was formerly employed as an iron worker. He was a veteran of the US Army and former President of the Noxubee County Branch of the NAACP. He was a member of Miller’s Chapel MB Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and one daughter. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Turn, nine children, 25 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two brothers, and three sisters. Pallbearers are Phillip Murray, Willie Murray, Jerry Barner, Jerry Hull, Larry Thomas and Bruce Richardson.
