AMORY — Captain Charles Marvin “Chad” Wright, 68, died Feb. 11, 2009, at North Mississippi Medical Center–Tupelo. Graveside services are today at 3:30 p.m. at Masonic Cemetery in Amory with the Rev. Warren Coile officiating. Visitation is today from 2:30-3:15 p.m. at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory. Mr. Wright was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Danville, Ky., to the late Bud Wright and Norma Burton Silliman. He had lived in Nashville and in Amory for the past seven years. He was a graduate of University of Kentucky and earned a master’s degree from The University of Mississippi. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Special Forces and was commanding officer of Navy Seal training. He received a Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster and “V” device, Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnamese Jump Wing, Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, and Master Parachutist Badge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, George Silliman. He is survived by his wife, Judy McCary Wright of Amory; daughters, Sheri Sirten and Terri Sanchez, both of Nashville, Alexandra Wright of Amory and Julie King of Georgetown, Ky.; sister, Ann Young of Danville, Ky.; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jeff Harlow, Bill McCary, Gene Pierce, Chris Hitt, Logan Young and Tom Sirten. Memorials may be made to Amory Humane Society, P.O. Box 218, Amory, MS 38821.
