Barbara Ann Carley, 87 of Steens, MS, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.
Visitation will be on February 28, 2023, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home,
Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Matt Moehring officiating. The interment will be at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Ms Carley was born February 12, 1936, in Kosciusko, MS, to the late Otis and Mandy Odelle Saunders Davis. She moved to Columbus in 1958. Ms Carley was manager of one of the first liquor stores in Columbus – Military Road Package Store. She was the owner and operator of The Shoppe Package Store from 1976 – 2014. Ms Carley worked for many years at the Depot Restaurant, Woody’s, Rub’s Pub, and Columbus Air Force Base. Ms Carley enjoyed being out- doors especially cutting grass and gardening.
In addition to her parents, Ms Carley was preceded in death by her son, George “Ronnie” Jones; daughter, Teresa Rector Flores; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Ms Carley is survived by her daughter, Debo- rah (Ken) Campbell; son, Chris (Jennifer) White; grandchildren, Jason (Misty) Edmondson, Joe Edmondson, David (Cindy) Edmondson, Neal White and Colby White; and great-grandchildren, Rhett Edmondson and Jacob (Mackenzie) Edmondson.
Pallbearers will be Jason Edmondson, Joe Edmondson, David Edmondson, Neal White, Colby White and Rhett Edmondson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rachel Harrison, Janet Logan, Daphne Palmer, friends and neighbors on Mohave Lane, Will Cooper, Greg Mer- chant, Dr. Woodard, Dr. King, Dr. Edwards, Dr. Gillespie and all their staff.
