A 17-year-old Heritage Academy junior who accidentally shot himself while dove hunting in Noxubee County on Sunday remained in an induced coma this morning, school officials said.
Spencer Perkins, a soccer player at the school, was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson after he dropped his shotgun, causing it to fire into his face. He has remained in critical but stable condition since Monday.
Heritage Academy has postponed its homecoming, Grandparents Day and Special Friends Day until Oct. 15 because of the tragedy.
