Officers with Columbus Police Department are investigating an alleged weekend armed robbery.
A little before 1 a.m. Saturday, a woman was robbed apparently at gunpoint near the intersection of 14th Street and Eighth Avenue North, Assistant Police Chief Fred Shelton told The Dispatch.
The woman was outside standing beside a vehicle when a black male in a gray and white scarf approached her and pointed what appeared to be a rifle at her. The victim told police she could not see the weapon clearly because some kind of cloth was covering it, Shelton said.
The suspect took the victim’s wallet and cell phone before he and another male suspect fled on foot heading west on Eighth Avenue.
The suspect has not been arrested.
