A woman turned herself in Tuesday after biting the tip of another woman’s finger off earlier this month, according to Columbus Police Department.
Shelby Ferguson, 25, is charged with mayhem.
CPD officers responded at 1:45 a.m. June 16 to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, when a female victim came in for treatment for her injured hand. The victim was treated and released from the hospital with multiple stitches.
CPD Public Information Officer Bryan Moore told The Dispatch Ferguson allegedly bit the victim during a fight, removing the tip of her finger. Ferguson and the victim knew each other prior to the alleged fight, he said.
Ferguson was booked in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center and was released after posting a $25,000 bond.
CPD’s Criminal Investigation Division is still investigating the incident.
