Weekend bets: Fun things to do in the Golden Triangle this weekend (May 12-14)
Kicking the summer off with homemade pickles and jam, Elizabeth Paine, owner of Trinity Bottom Farm, is no stranger to Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market. In 2022, Paine sold homemade pickles, fresh jalapeno peppers, jam, and a line of fresh produce from her farm. The Hitching Lot Farmer’s Market is open at Second Avenue and Second Street North from 4 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 7-10 a.m. Saturdays. (Dispatch File Photo)

This weekend has activities ranging from produce shopping to arts and crafts. There is sure to be something for everyone. 

 

B.B. King Tribute

Friday, May 12 @ 7 p.m.

Columbus

Columbus Arts Council will host a BB King Tribute featuring Big Daddy Cade and the Blues Masters in the Omnova Theater at the Rosenzweig Arts Center. Tickets are $20.

 

“Greater Tuna”

Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13 @ 7:30 p.m.

Starkville

Starkville Community Theatre will perform its bonus show, “Greater Tuna” at The Playhouse, 108 East Main St. 

 

Rock out at Rick’s

Friday, May 12 @ 9 p.m.

Starkville

Morgan Brown Band will perform at Rick’s Cafe. Tickets are $8.

 

Hitching Lot grand opening

Saturday, May 13 

Columbus

The Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market will have its grand opening from 7-10 a.m. 

 

Flea market finds

Saturday, May 13 @ 9 a.m.

Columbus

45 Flea Market will reopen at 11060 Highway 45, Columbus, next to P&R Recycling and Scrapyard.

 

Get creative

Starkville

Starkville Area Arts Council will host Art in the Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in McKee Park. The event features hands-on experiences in different art mediums and is free to attend.

 

Mother’s Day Eve

Saturday, May 13

Starkville

Chick-fil-A is hosting a Mother’s Day event from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Create cards and hand-made flowers for Mother’s Day. Mothers get a choice of a free Chocolate Chunk Cookie, Chocolate Fudge Brownie or IceDream cup or cone, and can register to win a catering package.

 

Spoken word performance

Saturday, May 13 @ noon

Columbus

Columbus Arts Council will host a spoken word and arts performance by Columbus High and Middle School students. Free to attend.
