West Point
The Confectionary at Elmview at 494 East Brame Avenue is hosting a Let it Snow Snowman Paint Party, featuring Brush it Off Paint Parties leading a step-by-step painting session on 12×16 canvases. This is intended to be a fun afternoon of painting. Tickets are $40 and are available online.

Starkville
Mississippi State University is hosting its 30th annual breakfast and day of service event commemorating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. at The Mill at 600 Russell St. Breakfast starts at 8 a.m., with a program starting at 9 a.m. The event’s keynote speaker will be MSU alumna Camille Scales Young. After the breakfast, the MSU Maroon Volunteer Center, in coordination with Volunteer Starkville, will begin the MLK Jr. Day of Service activities.

Columbus
The City of Columbus, East Mississippi Community College, Mississippi University for Women, the Columbus Air Force Base and the United Way of Lowndes and Noxubee Counties are sponsoring a breakfast and day of service event in honor of the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. at the Lion Hills Center and Golf Club at 2331 Military Road. Darren Leach, pastor of Genesis Church, will be the keynote speaker.

West Point
As a celebration of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., there will be a walk from the East Half Mile Street at Martin Luther King Drive to the old Mary Holmes College gymnasium. Following the walk, there will be a program in the gymnasium. The Oktibbeha County Branch of NAACP is hosting a march, rally and program commemorating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The parade begins at the end of Washington Street and ends at Unity Park. The program will include county Tax Assessor JoHelen Walker as the keynote speaker. The event is open to everyone. Signs are encouraged.
