A 21-year-old woman was still in critical condition and a 25-year-old man was in good condition today following a head-on collision Tuesday in Lowndes County.
Brook Loredo”s 2002 Chevrolet Malibu and Jordy Jaynes” 2001 Ford Ranger collided on Highway 12 south of Military Road at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday as she was taking a friend, 23-year-old Jose Aguilar, to work.
Loredo was airlifted in critical condition to Tupelo, then taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. Jaynes was taken in critical condition to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, then to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Aguilar was treated at BMH-GT and released Tuesday.
Both Loredo and Jaynes had surgery Thursday, and Loredo”s brother, Steven Hall, said she was scheduled for another surgery today.
Jaynes will be in rehabilitation for some time, although he will likely be moved to Columbus soon, according to family.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Brian Mobley said investigators were still trying to piece together the details surrounding the wreck, which caused a major traffic pileup Tuesday.
All three people involved were wearing seat belts, Mobley said.
