Two people were transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle Monday following an accident on Highway 45 South.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol and officers from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident which occurred at the intersection of Artesia Road and Highway 45 at about 11:54 a.m., according to a press release from the MHP.
A white Pontiac traveling east on Artesia Road entered the intersection of Highway 45 where a gray Chevrolet collided with it, according to MHP trooper Gregory Bell, who was at the scene. The driver of the Pontiac, Kierra Moody, 25, of Columbus, and its passenger, Joshua Finch, both were transported to Baptist Memorial with nonlife-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, Solomon J. Phenix, 68, of Macon, and its passenger, Emiles Rogers, 59, of Detroit, Michigan, were uninjured.
MHP is still investigating the accident.
