Three train cars went off the rails Wednesday morning, redirecting traffic for more than six hours.
Mississippi Highway Patrol responded at about 10 a.m. to reports of three Canadian Pacific Kansas City train cars of scrap metal falling over the tracks crossing Artesia Road, Public Information Officer Trooper Bryant Flake told The Dispatch.
No injuries were reported at the site of the fallen train cars, and Flake did not know what caused the train to derail.
Traffic was rerouted around the derailed cars until the proper equipment could be brought out to put them back on track. By 5:30 p.m., Flake said the roadway was reopened, and traffic was flowing normally.
