NOXUBEE COUNTY — Two men were killed Wednesday in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 45 in Noxubee County, and another man was left with serious injuries.
Jimmie A. James, 45, of Meridian and Ladarvies Stephens, 29, of Meridian were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release from Mississippi Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 5:53 p.m. James and Stephens were both in the same vehicle traveling south on Highway 45, when their vehicle collided with mechanical equipment in the roadway that was being operated by another driver. Another car traveling south also collided with the equipment, the release said.
The operator of the mechanical equipment was seriously injured in the crash and was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
