Two Columbus teenagers were arrested Monday in connection to a shooting on North Lehmberg Road.
Alex Malik Williams, 19, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, and Kylan Dewayne Ellis, 19, is charged with two counts of accessory after the fact, a Columbus Police Department press release said.
Officers responded to the 100 block of North Lehmberg Road at about 4:20 p.m. Monday after receiving reports of shots fired in the area.
No one was injured in the shooting, but there was property damage, Public Information Officer Bryan Moore told The Dispatch.
Police Chief Joseph Daughtry said officers quickly connected the two teenagers to the crime with the help of witnesses near the scene.
“With the public’s help, we were able to identify the subjects early through witnesses and neighbors – people in the community who saw what they thought was suspicious,” Daughtry told the Dispatch on Tuesday. “And we started putting pieces of the puzzle together, and it was able to help us to identify our suspects.”
Daughtry said the incident is still under investigation, and detectives are still speaking to the suspects to determine the details. Additional charges may be pursued as evidence becomes available.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact CPD at (662) 244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
