A Saturday night fight escalated when a gun was fired into a home, Sheriff Eddie Hawkins told The Dispatch.
Jeremiah Brewer, 18, was arrested Monday and charged with shooting into a dwelling. Jaylin Shelton, 19, and Audrea Thornton, 19, were both arrested Tuesday morning on one count of accessory to shooting into a dwelling. Each of the suspects reside in Columbus.
At about 8:53 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a residence on Hobbs Sheffield Road in reference to a disturbance. Occupants of the home said Shelton and the homeowner had allegedly been in a physical altercation in the front yard, which was caught on a home surveillance camera.
At the same time, Hawkins said Brewer, who was in a vehicle with Thornton, turned a vehicle around in the yard. Shelton left the fight and ran back to the vehicle, at which point Brewer fired into the residence.
The bullet traveled through a window and a wall before dropping at the back of the home, a LCSO press release said.
No injuries were reported. The three suspects are being held at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center, awaiting their initial appearance in court.
The case remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact LCSO at (662) 328-6788 or Golden Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
