A suspect is in custody in connection to the shooting death of an Oktibbeha County woman.
Nathaniel Jamar Davis, 23, of West Point, is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and accessory after the fact to attempted murder, according to an Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office release issued Thursday afternoon. He was arrested “without incident.”
While authorities are connecting the charges to the death of Lou Ann Jones, 48, Capt. Brett Watson would not release further details by press time Thursday, citing an ongoing investigation.
More arrests are expected, Watson said.
Jones was found deceased in her home on A.W. Williams Road near Pheba at about 7 a.m. Tuesday. She had a gunshot wound to the back, and Watson said she had been dead “more than a little while.”
Her 13-year-old daughter, Lydia Flowers, had last been seen Monday morning at the residence and was missing until authorities found her unharmed Wednesday afternoon.
Watson said Thursday that Flowers is safe and was not kidnapped. He would not comment on whether she is a person of interest in the shooting.
Davis is being held in Oktibbeha County Jail with bond set at $1.2 million.
