Construction crews working on Starkville”s streets and sidewalks will be off Monday in observance of Independence Day, but motorists can expect delays and lane closures beginning Tuesday.
Both Northside Drive and South Montgomery Street/Lampkin Street intersection are scheduled for milling. Work is expected to be completed on Wednesday, city engineer Edward Kemp said.
Paving operations also will restart Tuesday morning with the following streets scheduled for overlay this week: bridge approaches on Old West Point Road, Northgate Drive, Brittney Lane, Woodcrest, North Nash Street, Herbert Street and Prospect Place.
The contractor will continue to work southward through town, Kemp said. Motorists are encouraged to avoid these sections of roadways if possible as there will be single-lane closures and delays.
Additionally, work will continue on the roadway widening construction and storm drainage installation along the east side of Reed Road. Motorists can expect single-lane closures and delays, and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
Reed Road is tentatively scheduled to be completely closed starting Tuesday at 7 a.m. through Wednesday at 5 p.m. to complete the final cross drain, Kemp said.
