Starkville police are investigating a Sunday night shooting that hospitalized a male victim.
According to a department press release, officers responded a report of a person being shot on Northside Drive, near J.L. King Park, at 10:09 p.m. Officers found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg upon arriving.
SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady said the incident happened outside.
The victim was taken to OCH Regional Medical Center for treatment. Oktibbeha County Emergency Medical Services Director Michael Hunt said the victim has since been released.
Police do not currently believe the shooting was a random incident. According to the release, the victim is not cooperating with the investigation.
