STARKVILLE – Police are seeking suspects in a shooting near The Social Block apartments that injured a bystander.
Officers responded to reports of gunshots near the apartments on South Montgomery Street at about 9:50 p.m. Friday, according to a press release Starkville Police Department issued Sunday.
During the shooting, a round traveled through a fence at The Social Block and struck a victim in the parking lot of an adjacent apartment complex. The victim is receiving medical treatment, the press release said.
Police initially believed the shooting was connected to a fight at The Social Block earlier Friday night where a weapon was reportedly involved. The press release said that information was later determined to be inaccurate.
Anyone with information on the shooting can call SPD at (662) 323-4131, Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151 or leave a tip through SPD’s website.
