A Columbus woman has been arrested for allegedly going after a man with a baseball bat and a motor vehicle after he hit her, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.

Shortly before 9:30 Saturday night, deputies were dispatched to 11 Williams Place for a domestic violence call. Witnesses told deputies that Selvin I. Richardson, 34, punched Corrye K. Jordan, 25, in the face during the course of an altercation.
Jordan responded by getting a baseball bat out of her vehicle and attempting to swat Richardson, but Richardson’s father, who was also present, took the bat away from her, Hawkins said. Jordan then got in her car and attempted to run over Richardson and his dad.
When she missed, she backed up and tried again, equally unsuccessfully, Hawkins said.
The entire episode was captured on surveillance video.
Jordan was taken to the emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle to be treated for minor injuries and was then arrested, Hawkins said. She was charged with aggravated domestic violence.
Bond was set at $10,000 and she has bonded out of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
Richardson had left the scene by the time deputies arrived, and a warrant for domestic violence has been issued for his arrest. He was still at large as of press time.
Hawkins said the two have a child together, but he didn’t know what sparked the confrontation.
Anyone with knowledge of Richardson’s whereabouts or any additional information about the case is asked to call the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at (662) 328-6788 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151, or to use the P3 smartphone app.
Tipsters remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest.
