A Columbus man was arrested Friday following a theft investigation on Park Circle.
Leroy Fearce, 57, is charged with probation violation.
Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office took a report at about 2:30 p.m. Dec. 3, at a residence in the 1200 block of Park Circle after a homeowner reported multiple thefts from beneath his patio, according to the sheriff’s office. The victim told deputies a suspect entered his property on three separate occasions and stole items with a total value exceeding $1,500.
The victim provided deputies with video recordings and still photographs of the suspect, who was later identified as Fearce. During the investigation, Fearce admitted to taking the property and led deputies to the stolen items, which were recovered. Deputies also recovered additional property believed to belong to other victims, valued close to $2,000, Sheriff Eddie Hawkins told The Dispatch.
Hawkins confirmed a victim requested LCSO’s assistance in the investigation, despite Park Place being within city limits.
Though LCSO has received a few calls from Park Place residents about missing property, Hawkins said none of the recovered items have been claimed.
“If you have something missing, call us and let us know what it is,” Hawkins told The Dispatch on Monday. “We’ll see if it’s part of what we recovered.”
Anyone who recognizes Fearce, has had him working at their home or in their yard, or believes they may be missing property is asked to contact LCSO at (662) 328-6788.
Fearce is being held in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. Bond information was not available.
