A Starkville man with a history of violence was arrested Thursday and charged with being an accessory to a shooting last week.
Dionte Doss, 21, of 205 F Lynn Lane, is accused of providing the gun used in a shooting last week at the home of Club 124 murder suspect Dennis Thompson, Starkville Police Department Detective Andre Quinn said. Thompson has been charged with murder and three counts of aggravated assault for the May 23 incident at Club 124, and shots fired at his family”s home a few days later were in retaliation, Quinn said.
Tavion Nyshiem Pegues, of 135 Sand Road, Apt. 67 , was charged May 27 with shooting into an occupied dwelling for the incident at Thompson”s family”s home, but Doss provided the gun, Quinn said.
“(Doss) didn”t actually shoot into the dwelling himself, but he did supply the weapon for the shooter,” Quinn said.
Doss” arrest Thursday was the second time he was detained by Starkville police in less than two weeks. On May 22, Starkville police arrested Doss on charges of disorderly conduct and failure to comply with demands of law enforcement officers.
In March, Doss was charged with aggravated assault for a shooting on North Montgomery Street. In the March incident, police believe Doss and friend Antonio Hart were involved in a conflict with a man at a club in another county, though police did not disclose the name of the club.
Later, when the victim and his passenger arrived home at Shady Nook Apartments between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., Hart and Doss approached from the Mae Street area and began firing at the victim and his passenger, SPD Sgt. Chadd Garnett said at the time.
Hart also shot into the victim”s apartment, where the victim”s relatives slept, and was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, Garnett said.
Additionally, Doss was charged with aggravated assault in November 2007 and April 2008.
