The three remaining suspects in a Lowndes County assault and robbery are now in custody.
Diquavious Gray, 19, of Starkville, Zykeriya Wilbon, 19, of Artesia, and Dekhia Wood, 20, of Columbus, turned themselves in to the sheriff’s office Thursday at the same time, Sheriff Eddie Hawkins told The Dispatch.
Hawkins said each will be charged with one count of robbery, but more charges may be added as the investigation continues.
A fourth suspect, Anthony Hill Jr., 18, of Artesia, was arrested last week and also charged with one count of robbery. The four are accused of assaulting and robbing a victim March 29 on Gilmer Wilburn Road, according to a Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Sheriff’s deputies first spoke to the victim that day when they were called to Ellis Loop in Artesia in response to a report of an assault and robbery. The victim had suffered a broken nose, chipped tooth and other visible injuries requiring medical attention.
The victim identified the four suspects as the perpetrators, saying Wood and Hill picked the victim up from a home in Artesia before the incident.
The victim said the group was traveling along Gilmer Wilburn Road after leaving the residence when Hill, who was driving the vehicle, pretended to have car trouble and stopped the car in the middle of the road.
As Hill and Wood exited the car, Wilbon and Gray got out of the trunk. Wilbon pulled the victim from the vehicle and began assaulting her, with Gray joining in on the attack, the press release said.
During the altercation, the victim said Wilbon instructed one of the others to “go get the pistol.” But the victim passed out and could not confirm if anyone came back with a firearm. The suspects allegedly stole the victim’s cell phone.
All of the suspects are being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. Gray, Wilbon and Wood are each being held on $10,000 bond. Hill’s bond is set at $50,000.
