The Red Cross is looking for donated office space in Columbus.
Patty Tucker, executive director of the American Red Cross of North Mississippi, stressed that the Red Cross is not leaving Columbus. However, she is hoping that the Red Cross can move into a free, donated space by 2016 so that more money can go directly to clients.
“We just want to be good stewards of our donated dollars, so we’re just trying to find donated space in all of our locations,” Tucker said.
The search is part of a wider push for Red Cross offices all over the country to find donated office space in order to save money. Ideally, the office would include space for training separate from where volunteers and workers help clients, Tucker said. But the Red Cross could always hold training in other locations, so the extra space is not absolutely necessary.
The Red Cross currently has an office located at 501 Seventh Street North Suite A.
