STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women’s basketball posted its most dominant win of the season on Wednesday, taking down Alabama State to the tune of 105-57 at Humphrey Coliseum.
The Bulldogs improved to 11-1 with a flurry of points on Wednesday, scoring 34 in the first frame of action and taking a 59-19 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The contest was long over by that point, with Madison Francis and Favour Nwaedozi dominating in the paint and scoring at will. The true freshman recorded a double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds, and added four blocks, three steals and two assists for good measure. Nwaedozi followed behind in scoring with 20 points and six boards to round out a dominant night in the frontcourt.
It was an unusual scoreless night for guard Destiney McPhaul, who played more of a passing role at point guard in the absence of Saniyah King, and she helped open up the floor for teammates. Kharyssa Richardson added 15 points off the bench while Chandler Prater posted a 10-10 double-double, Jaylah Lampley bagged 12 and Trayanna Crisp added 8 with two makes from beyond the arc.
The later stages of the game proved to be an opportunity for players further down the bench, including freshman Nataliyah Gray and sophomore Faith Wylder.
MSU returns to action against La Salle in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday at 11 a.m.
