A misdemeanor charge has been dropped against the New Hope Elementary assistant principal accused of not reporting the fondling of a first-grade girl by a first-grade boy classmate.
Circuit Judge Lee Howard ruled Oct. 13 that there was insufficient evidence to pursue charges against Robin Ballard, who was charged in September.
Under state law, school officials must report such incidents to the Lowndes County Sheriff”s Office, officials said in September.
The boy, who was accused of inappropriately touching his classmate during recess in the playground area, was disciplined but remains at the school.
Ballard declined to comment on the case for legal reasons, but said she hoped to tell her side of the story soon.
