A female Mississippi State University employee suffered non-life-threatening injuries in an alleged stabbing on campus Monday afternoon, Chief Communications Officer Sid Salter told The Dispatch.
Police have a suspect in custody.
Salter said the initial call came in at about 3:50 p.m. at Herbert Hall, which is one of the older residence halls on the east side of campus. Salter said the suspect and the victim were in a car outside when the alleged attack happened.
Campus police officers arrested the suspect “within minutes” of the attack, Salter said. The suspect and victim knew each other, he said and the suspect was not believed to be an employee of the university.
The victim was taken to OCH Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The suspect’s name, charges and booking photo were not available by press time.
