STARKVILLE – Two additional suspects were arrested in connection with a Sunday morning shooting at Sonic Drive-In, located at 913 Hwy. 12 W.
Demarion Brand, 16, of Starkville, is charged with aggravated assault, and Shana Ferguson, 40, of Sturgis, is charged with accessory to attempted murder after the fact, a Starkville Police Department press release said.
Jakobe George, 19, also of Sturgis, turned himself in to police Monday and is charged with attempted murder in connection to the shooting.
Police responded to Sonic Drive-In at 10:47 a.m. Sunday, where officers determined a firearm was discharged during an altercation. No injuries were reported, but one vehicle was hit by gunfire.
The altercation was allegedly between Brand and George, who knew each other prior to the incident, the press release said.
SPD Sgt. Brandon Lovelady said there are no more arrests expected, but more cannot be ruled out at this stage of the investigation. He did not elaborate on Ferguson’s alleged role in the incident.
The investigation remains open. Anyone with information is asked to contact SPD at (662) 323-4131 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151. Crime Stoppers may offer a cash reward.
