The Monroe County courthouse in Aberdeen has reopened following its closure Monday after someone threatened to attack the building.
Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell told The Dispatch someone called the Mississippi Highway Patrol on Monday morning and threatened to “shoot up” the courthouse. The Highway Patrol contacted Cantrell’s office and the courthouse was closed for the remainder of Monday as a precaution.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office does not have anyone in custody following the threats, but Cantrell said his office continues to investigate the incident.
