If you’re looking to make dinner easy this week, there’s a new take-home pizza spot in downtown Columbus.
Located at 1514 Main St. and open noon-6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 1514 Take and Bake offers oven-ready pizzas. Simply pop in at 425 degrees for 12 to 16 minutes – then wait three minutes if you have the patience and enjoy. They’re also serving fresh salads, making it a quick stop for dinner plans on busy evenings.
Heading over to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, there’s a new gift shop officially open.
Nobody wants to spend time in the hospital, especially during the holiday season, but Flower Girl offers a little comfort with flowers, plants, balloons, snacks, cards, personal care items and more. Flower Girl is open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with weekend hours expected to roll out in the new year.
A lot of businesses have hosted their ribbon-cuttings and grand openings here lately. Secure Portable Buildings at 2325 Hwy. 45 N. has its grand opening Tuesday. Secure Portable Buildings offers various sheds and storage options for folks looking for some space outside the home for a man-cave or she-shed.
Heading over to Starkville, a new crowd favorite moved locations. Garden Babies, the local salad station, celebrated its ribbon-cutting this month, unveiling a bigger space to keep up with its growing customer base. Garden Babies opened right next door to its previous location at 325 University Drive and is open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturdays.
If you haven’t tried Garden Babies, I highly recommend the taco salad on Tuesdays.
We also have some bittersweet news near downtown Starkville. The Gallery at Dunkington, 109 S. Lafayette St., will close as an event space by the end of the year, marking an end to years of hosting showers, celebrations, workshops and more. With the nonprofit Starkville Strong already operating in the building, Dunkington owners Brandi and Josh Herrington are changing the gallery’s space to include meeting and office areas, food pantry access, client service areas and volunteer and intern workspaces.
Don’t worry, Dunkington paint parties will still continue, but right now, Starkville Strong will take over and continue its impact.
“No more packing up the work area because an event is booked,” a social media post reads. “No more shuffling desks between workshops. Just one consolidated, functional space truly built for serving neighbors. …Thank you for every event, every memory, every confetti pop and every late-night clean-up chat. You helped make The Gallery what it was, and now you’re helping it become what our community needs next.”
See y’all next week!
