TJ Manna, owner of Proof, announced the downtown bakery’s closure last week.
Proof, 109 W. Main St., opened in 2019 and has since changed hands and business operations over the years.
“Proof bakery is closed,” Manna posted. “I am in mourning, and I will go live and tell the story soon. I love you all and I already miss your beautiful faces. … Proof at 109 West Main Street will never open again. It is no longer my bakery or my product.”
I reached out to Manna to discuss the reason for the bakery’s closure, and she said she would discuss details next week.
According to social media, she plans to announce why she’s closing at 6 p.m. Friday on Facebook Live.
The weather is cooling off, and it’s about to be chili season. I would hate to be a kidney bean right about now. With the weather changes, that means Halloween season is almost here.
The Guest Room, 100 E. Main St., in Starkville will be known as the Ghost Room this month, a spooooooktacular Spookeasy featuring all things Halloween, ghosts and ghouls. The Guest Room serves the full food menu from Restaurant Tyler and will have specials throughout the month, open at 4:30 pm. Wednesday through Saturday.
Moving to Columbus, one of the public’s favorite restaurants is celebrating 25 years.
J. Broussard’s, 210 Fifth St. S, first opened in the former Elk’s Lodge on Main Street with Chef Joseph Broussard and his wife Mary. Now operated by their daughter Beth Broussard Rogers, J. Broussard’s offers unique dishes combined with some of the finest dining in the area. The downtown restaurant features special themed menus Tuesday through Saturday next week, featuring crawfish tails, duck breast, fried chicken with bacon and cheddar waffles and a whole bunch of mouth watering options.
The anniversary series is at 6 p.m. each night and available by reservation only.
Moving over to West Point, the Baptist Urgent Care officially closed last week. The medical clinic at 7474 Hwy. 45 Alt., closed Saturday and listed as permanently closed on the website.
Also in the spirit of October, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer affects tons of people each year. This year, my mother and aunt were both diagnosed and are currently undergoing treatment as I write this.
Slim Chickens in Biloxi, Columbus, Starkville and Tupelo will donate 15% of your order every Tuesday when you mention the American Cancer Society throughout this month. Wear pink, cancer stinks and thank you to those businesses helping promote awareness and supporting the women and men affected by breast cancer.
See y’all next week!
