Yummy Teriyaki, a new hibachi restaurant, is opening soon in Columbus.
Li Guo Chen, who is the co-owner of American Deli at Leigh Mall, will open the new restaurant at the former Backyard Burger at 1913 Hwy. 45. The building has been vacant for about five years, so I’m pretty excited to see a new business coming there.
Leasing agent Jeff Shepherd said Chen expects to open by the end of April or early May. Once open, the restaurant will serve hibachi, stir fry, lo mein, fried rice, Chinese dumplings, chicken wings, French fries and more.
Keep an eye out for the new restaurant!
We’ve got some moves and changes happening in downtown Columbus.
Southern Lux is moving. The women’s boutique is moving from 425 Main St. to 413 Main St., formerly Park Place. Owner Dana Eaton said she’s excited to move to a larger location with window space. She will reopen April 2.
“We’re really excited about it,” Eaton said. “If you don’t know this is a boutique, you’re not going to drive by and know it’s a boutique. We’re really excited to have some windows that I can decorate so people know.”
Southern Lux offers various women’s clothing and accessories. Eaton will celebrate the store’s one year anniversary on April 20. You can shop at Southern Lux Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Don’t worry folks, the vacancy at 425 Main St. is already filled. It will be the new home for Best’s Academy of Martial Arts.
Owner Jonathan Best first opened his Korean martial arts academy in 2016. He has operated from various facilities over the years. Most recently, he’s held his Tae Soo Do classes at Stark Recreation Center on Mississippi University for Women’s campus and the New Hope Rec Center. Now, those classes will combine and meet at 425 Main Street. Best will officially open May 6.
“By moving into our new space, we will be able to offer more flexible schedules and more extracurriculars,” he said.
Once open, Best will offer various classes for all ages Monday through Thursday 5:30 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Best said he has classes with students ranging from 4 to 70 years old.
“It’s very exciting and it’s been a long time coming,” Best said. “… I’m thankful to all my students and patrons, past and present, for giving me their time and energy. We’re excited about what the future holds.”
If anyone is interested, they can even sign up for a free trial at Best’s website bestsacademy.com.
