Starkville’s Cotton District will have a new dessert spot by mid-September.
Eryn Jackson, along with her husband and former Mississippi State football player Gabe, decided the Cotton District needed another late-night venture.
By Sept. 16, Dapper Doughnut will debut at 100 Maxwell St., near Bin 612. This is Jackson’s second Dapper Doughnut location with the first opening in Flowood.
The doughnut franchise isn’t simply a doughnut shop: it’s doughnuts with style. The sweet shop will serve mini doughnuts hot and fresh with flavors, icing and toppings catered to each customer. Customers can also browse various drink options including specialty milkshakes.
“Flowood was doing so well, we wanted to bring Dapper to Gabe’s alma mater,” Jackson said. “He really wanted one in the Cotton District.”
Catering to the late night crowds in Starkville, the Jacksons plan on Dapper serving well into the night. As of now, folks will get their sweet fix Monday through Wednesday 8 a.m. to 1 a.m., Thursday 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., Fridays 8 a.m. to 3 a.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to midnight.

There’s a sign up now advertising a Marco’s Pizza is coming our way.
Coming to College View, the franchise pizza chain looks to be underway with “Coming Soon” signs placed in the window. The chain was founded in the late 1970s and now has more than 1,000 locations nationwide.
According to its website, Marco’s Pizza menu includes pizza, subs, wings, salads, pizza bowls, desserts and more.
Also in business news, The Lodge officially has a new owner.
But don’t worry, Mississippi State apparel and the store you love will remain largely the same.
As of last week, Alumni Hall Stores purchased The Lodge from former owner John Hendricks. The purchase of the Starkville Lodge marks Alumni Hall’s 30th store for the college apparel company.
But according to District Manager Jeremy Phillips, acquiring the Starkville Lodge marks a first for Alumni Hall.
“We have traditionally built new brick and mortar stores,” Phillips said. “This is a new venture for us. … We won’t be changing the name and our intention is to maintain most of the standing traditions The Lodge has built.”
Phillips said all employees remain, and the company hopes to carry on the legacy Hendricks built.
The Dispatch could not reach Hendricks by press time today.
In Columbus, we have a new cleaning service that’s already up and running.
Eryn Jackson, who is opening up Dapper Doughnut in Starkville, opened Two Maids and a Mop at 3491 Bluecutt Road.
Jackson, a Columbus native, officially opened the residential cleaning service in June. This is Jackson’s second business she’s opened in the Columbus area.
Jackson said she felt there was a need in Columbus to help sanitize and clean homes especially during the pandemic. Two Maids and a Mop offers deep cleaning, one-time cleans, move-in and move-out cleaning services.
Though Jackson lives full time in Seattle with her husband Gabe who plays with the Seattle Seahawks, she’s felt a need to invest in her hometown. After opening the indoor playground Kidz-N-Play in 2019, she felt called to continue creating jobs and driving local business in the Golden Triangle region.
“I love Columbus,” she said. “Columbus is near and dear to my heart. I’m a person that loves to invest in a community that has made me who I am today. I’m blessed to do this and I want to do this.”
