The 27th annual Market Street Festival is expected to bring thousands to town this weekend, and there will be plenty for everyone to do.
There are close to 250 vendors selling arts and crafts or food for the weekend.
There will also be live music beginning Friday night and all day Saturday on two stages.
Musical acts include Revive Worship, Rust Bucket Roadies, Hartle Road, Suzuki Strings and Honeyboy and Boots, to name a few.
There will also be two children’s activity areas, one on College Street beside First United Methodist Church and one on Main Street at the intersection of Fourth Street.

“The festival showcases our downtown,” Main Street Columbus Executive Director Barbara Bigelow said. “People come here, many of whom have never been to Columbus. Some are returning, but many see Columbus for the first time.”
Along with the festivities come the usual street closures as well.
Streets will begin closing at 6 a.m. Friday. All streets will be closed by 3 p.m. Friday and remain closed until the festival’s conclusion Saturday.
A section of Main Street, between Third and Seventh Streets will be closed. The same stretch of Second Avenue South will also be closed.
The two public parking lots along Second Avenue will also be closed.
Employees of downtown businesses and residents of the apartments will have to park outside of the festival zone such as places along Seventh Street or at the Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market.

“We do appreciate everyone’s, meaning business owners and folks that live in apartments, patience with us this weekend,” festival coordinator Amber Brislin said. “Don’t see it as an inconvenience, but a convenience because they’ve got a front row seat to the biggest party of the year. While they might have to walk an extra block to park their car, this is definitely worth it. We appreciate everyone’s understanding because it helps everything else we do the remainder of the year.”
