A man is in the hospital after being shot in north Columbus Tuesday morning.
Interim Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton told The Dispatch the 27-year-old victim, who has not been named, was walking near a store in the 700 block of 18th Street North when a person wearing a red shirt in a black Nissan shot at him. Police were notified about the shooting at 11:14 a.m.
Shelton said the victim was shot in the arm and ran to his mother’s home farther down 18th Street North. He was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for treatment. Police are working to develop a motive for the incident.
Police are talking to a witness who was on scene.
No arrest has been made in the incident.
“The black Nissan fled the scene,” Shelton said. “We are trying to locate that vehicle.”
The victim has been released from the hospital, Shelton said.
