Police are looking for a suspect in a Tuesday morning hit-and-run that seriously injured a 66-year-old man.
A black BMW struck Joe Earl Taylor at the intersection of Wilkins-Wise Road and Tufline Lane at about 10:15 a.m., a Columbus Police Department press release said. A surveillance camera captured the vehicle stopping after hitting Taylor but then leaving the scene.
Police believe the vehicle may have damage to the passenger side mirror.
Taylor was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for his injuries.
Chief Joseph Daughtry confirmed to The Dispatch Taylor is the brother of Ward 1 Councilwoman Ethel Stewart. She did not attend Tuesday’s council meeting.
Anyone with knowledge of the suspect’s or vehicle’s whereabouts can call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151 or the CPD Investigations Division.
