Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a suspect in a fatal shooting early Saturday on Swedenburg Circle.
Deputies responded at about 1 a.m. to a home on the 300 block of Swedenburg Circle where they found a 20-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds, Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said. The victim later died at the scene.
The victim was identified as Willie Dickerson of Jackson, Tennessee. He had been visiting Columbus with a female friend over the past couple of weeks, Coroner Greg Merchant said.
Witnesses in the area reported they heard shots, but they did not identify the shooter, an LCSO press release said. The case is still being investigated and being treated as a homicide.
