A Columbus man was arrested Monday for allegedly trying to swerve his vehicle at his girlfriend’s car on Lee Stokes Road.
Noah Baker, 26, was charged with aggravated domestic violence, according to a Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office press release.
The victim and Baker engaged in a verbal argument at about 8:20 p.m. Sunday while they were at her family’s house. During the dispute, Baker became upset and left the residence, the release said.
The victim stated Baker had been abusive in the past, and she decided to move in with her mother. She and members of her family went to her address on Deer Trail to collect a few of her belongings, and while at that residence, the victim received a text from Baker threatening to “wreck her,” the release said.
Later that evening, as the victim and her brother were driving down Lee Stokes Road toward its intersection with Highway 182, Baker approached them from the opposite direction, swerving into their lane and forcing them off the roadway to avoid a head-on collision, the release said.
Baker was taken to the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. His bond is set at $50,000.
