A Maben man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 82.
A green 1998 Dodge Ram was following a Ford farm tractor west on Highway 82 near Polly Bell Road at about 4:15 p.m. when a Mack tractor-trailer hit the Dodge Ram from behind and slammed it into the farm tractor, said Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Brian Mobley.
The driver of the farm tractor, 41-year-old Sammie Jones, of Maben, was pronounced dead at the scene, Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt said this morning.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, 58-year-old Raymond Poe Jr. of Pheba, was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo for his injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer, 39-year-old Fred Culver, of Forrest City, Ark., was not injured, Mobley said.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating the circumstances of the crash, Mobley said. No charges have been filed.
