Lowndes County deputies are seeking the public’s help in finding a man who has been missing since July.
Derek Gray, 50, was last seen about three weeks ago, according to a Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Deputies first began searching for him July 29 after a woman called 911 asking for help finding Gray. He and the woman had been living together in the Yellow Creek area of Steens, the press release said.
Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said deputies have conducted several searches of the creek and the area. Though his cell phone, clothing and car have been located, Hawkins said there’s been no sign of Gray.
His family, who said it’s unusual not to hear from Gray, officially reported him missing on Aug. 8. Gray is a white male, who is 5-foot-4 and weighs about 140 pounds.
Anyone with knowledge of Gray’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office or call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
