Thursday, the Lowndes County Sheriff”s Office responded to reports of a suspicious individual on Mill Road; they had received several calls concerning the suspicious character.
When officers responded, they confronted 47-year-old Gary Dale Moore, who said his trailer was on fire and he had been hit by a car. Moore, of 86 Center St. in Columbus, fit the description given by callers; he had no visible injuries.
Moore then dropped to the ground, appearing to suffer a seizure.
Local firemen were dispatched to administer medical care to Moore. When a fireman attempted to check Moore”s pulse, Moore reportedly told the fireman, “I”m going to knock you out.”
Moore then sprung to his feet and grabbed a nearby plastic drink cooler, raising it above his head to club the fireman, but was quickly tazed by LCSO deputies. He was later placed under arrest in the emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Other arrests
The following other felony arrests were reported by the Lowndes County Sheriff”s Office:
- Alonzo Johnson, 20, of 1701 Fifth Ave. S. No. 9 in Columbus, was arrested Wednesday by the Columbus Police Department on one count of domestic violence-third offense.
- Johnathon Hayes Elkins, 37, of 624 Shirley Subdivision in West Point, was arrested Thursday by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for violation of probation.
- Marcus Dewayne Jackson, 34, of 2778 Old Waverly Road in West Point, was arrested Thursday by the MDOC for violation of probation.
- Goley Glen Lewis, 41, 3393 Lewis Loop S.E. in Bolivia, N.C., was arrested Friday on one count of possession of a controlled substance.
