Firefighters were called to the same East Columbus house twice Monday after an electric heater caught a bathroom wall on fire.
After putting out the first fire in the 100 block of Brown Street shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, firefighters were called back at about 11:15 p.m., when the fire apparently rekindled, said Battalion Chief Martin Andrews.
No one was injured, but the house was “pretty much totaled,” Andrews said. The owner, who was in the house during the first fire, was staying at a neighbor”s house when the second fire started.
Both police and arson investigators were called in after the second fire. Although the fires remained under investigation today, arson was ruled out. A total of 14 firefighters responded to both fires.
